Marj - “On Sound Ground?” - Feb. 15, 1953

Marj is busy as a bee running innumerable errands and completing countless chores this weekend. But she also has time to play tennis, go out the St. Louis symphony with friends, and spend quality time with Bob’s parents and his brother Carl. Towards the end of the letter, she mentions she was surprised by Bob’s valentine. Maybe their relationship isn’t on as firm ground as one would think. She fittingly concludes with a symphony themed post-script joke.

Bob - “Eighteen Cents” - Feb. 11, 1953 (Part 1)

While everyone watches the Chuck Davey vs Kid Gavilan fight, Bob takes the opportunity to send Marj a flurry of updates. With his leave pass back in hand he goes down to Baltimore to see Stalag 17. The next night he makes it to Washington D.C. for a surprise lecture on the Tetons. However, Bob’s exciting, yet grueling, life at Aberdeen may be coming to a close as he seeks a transfer to Yuma Test Station. Not to be outdone by Marj, he ends the letter with a post script joke of his own.
